The application process to Singapore Universities can be a daunting task.  Worry not! We’ve put together everything you need to know about university applications in Singapore.  But before applying, you should check the admission requirements and deadlines to make the process hassle-free.

Easy Step To Applying To Universities In Singapore

Step 1: Understanding Admission Cycle

The academic session in Singapore higher education institutions for undergraduate as well as postgraduate courses usually starts in August. Thus, research for the course and the university, standardized tests to be taken and universities application process should start at least a year in advance.

**Many universities in Singapore accept students twice a year- August and January. However, the application deadline varies by university and its course. The deadline for the majority of the universities in Singapore is March and June. Therefore, it is wise to contact the concerned university and its department before applying.

Step 2: Where To Apply : Registration

You must apply directly to the university you’re interested in.

Apply Online

The majority of universities in Singapore have an online application portal. For online mode, create your profile by entering your name, date of birth, email address and password. Choose your level and program of study and submit it.

Apply Offline

A few universities in Singapore require the applicant to download the application form from the official website, fill the form completely and send it to the respective university along with the academic testimonials in hard copy.  So, it is advisable to consult the university official website and contact the international office of the respective university before applying.

Step 3: Supporting Documents Required

After applying online, upload the supporting documents (scanned copies) like academic transcripts and certificates, proof of nationality- Passport particulars page, passport-size photograph,  CV/Resume, TOEFL/IELTS score report, GMAT/GRE score report (whichever is applicable), referee reports, Statement of Purpose, LOR and other documents.

You’ll need to send the hard copies of all the above mentioned documents along with your application form in hard copy to the university if you are applying offline. Make sure that your application packet reaches the university before their deadlines.

Step 4: Payment & Application Submission

Submit the application and pay the required application fee payable to the University. The application fee is non-refundable and varies from university to university and course to course.

In case you have mailed the application, contact the specific university admission office to ensure that they have received your application form.

** Note down your application form number, user id and password to check the further application status.

Step 5: Assessment and Shortlisting

The university peruses your application form and documents that you have sent. The applicants who are shortlisted will be informed via e-mail. Some universities conduct interviews for admission.

**Note: Applicants can check the final status of their application on the Online Application System of the respective university by entering the application number, password, passport no. and date of birth.

Step 6: Admission Offer

Successful candidates receive acceptance letter/letter of approval from the university. Complete the required formalities associated with the acceptance of admission offer within the stipulated time frame, or else the admission offer may lapse. To accept the offer, pay a non-refundable enrollment fee that varies as per university and its program.

Step 7: Apply for Student Pass/ Student Visa

As per the Immigration Act, international students who wish to study in Singapore are required to apply for a Singapore Student’s Pass. The university in which you have been enrolled will send you the application procedure for the student pass along with a SOLAR application number via e-mail.

After receiving the email,  apply for the Student Pass by logging on to the SOLAR System using the assigned SOLAR application number and other personal details.  Apply for the student pass at least 2 months prior to the commencement of the academic session.
