As a student, it becomes important to know the eligibility criteria in order to apply to the university and degree program of your choice in Singapore. The higher education institutions in Singapore have minimum eligibility criteria that should be met.  However, the criteria vary from university to university. Also, every course has different set of prerequisites, so it is wise to check before applying.

Eligibility criteria for Study in Singapore

University Reqirements for Undergraduate Courses in Singapore

The applicant should have-
• Completed 18 years of age prior to joining a degree course
• Completed a minimum of 12 years of formal education
• Passed standard XII or equivalent from CBSE, ICSE or any other State Board
• Academic record of 60% to 70% and above in standard XII (Varies depending on the university- public or private)
• Undertaken English language exam: TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language), IELTS (International English Language Testing System) and PTE (Pearson Test of English) are the standardized language tests whose scores are accepted to substantiate your level of proficiency in English. A TOEFL score of 80 and above, IELTS score of 6.5 and above is accepted.

Eligibility Criteria for Engineering

The applicant should have-
• Passed standard XII with PCM (Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics)
• Undertaken English language tests like TOEFL/IELTS

University Reqirements for Masters Courses in Singapore

The applicant should have-
• Completed Bachelor’s degree (3 or 4 years) or its equivalent
• Undertaken English language exam: TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language), IELTS (International English Language Testing System) and PTE (Pearson Test of English) are the standardized language tests whose scores are accepted to substantiate your level of proficiency in English. A TOEFL score of 90 and above, IELTS score of 6.5 and above is accepted.
• Work experience of 2 years and more (Depends on the course)

Eligibility Criteria for MBA Program

The applicant should have-
• A bachelor’s degree
• Undertaken standardized Test- GMAT (General Management Aptitude Test). This test assesses the potential of the MBA aspirant to undertake the studies in the area of management or business. The accepted GMAT score is 600 and above or GRE equivalent
• Undertaken English language proficiency test- TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) or IELTS (International English Language Testing System); Score of IELTS 6.5 and above; TOEFL Paper-based- 600 and TOEFL Internet-based-100
• At least 2 years of work experience

Eligibility Criteria for MS or MA Courses

MA and MA is another appealing course in Singapore.
The applicant should have-
• A bachelor’s degree
• Appeared for the GRE (Graduate Record Examination) examUndertaken TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) or IELTS (International English Language Testing System), if language of instruction at the tertiary level is not English; score of IELTS 6.0 to 7.0 and TOEFL Paper-based-600, TOEFL Computer-based- 250 and TOEFL Internet-based-100

Eligibility Criteria for for PhD (Doctor of Philosophy)

The applicant should have
• Completed bachelors with at least second class honors and masters in the related field /area of study
• Undertake GRE (Graduate Record Examination)/GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test) or GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) with a score of minimum 90 percentile
• Undertake TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) or IELTS (International English Language Testing System) to prove English language proficiency
