Documents Required To Apply Singapore University


Once you have made up your mind for studying abroad in Singapore, it’s time to start applying to the universities in Singapore. Higher education institutions in Singapore require a complete application package. This package plays a vital role in the admission process. Here’s the list of documents required to apply to universities in Singapore-

Application form: It should be completely filled and signed by the applicant

Academic records/transcripts: This includes class XII degree and mark sheets, courses undertaken, certificates of academic achievements, bachelor’s degree (for masters program) and a masters degree (for PhD program).

English language score reports: TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) or IELTS (International English Language Testing System) score card/report, if English was not the language of instruction at the tertiary level.

Standardized tests score reports: This includes GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test) for MBA and GRE (Graduate Record Examination) for masters and doctoral programs

Academic referees: At least two academic referees; name and institutional email ID of the referees.

Letter of Recommendation (LOR): At least two LORs are required. Applicants with 2 years of experience are required to submit at least one professional LOR along with the academic LOR.

Academic LOR can be written by teachers, professors, guides and project/internship supervisors; and the professional LOR can be written by the project managers, team leader, manager, etc.

Statement of Purpose (SOP): It is one of the crucial elements of the application package that can either make or break your admission application. The SOP should highlight the reasons for applying to that particular university , the goals/career aspirations and how this particular degree program will help you in achieving your goal.

Resume/CV:  It should not exceed 2 pages and everything should be briefly mentioned.

Proof of sufficient funds: It can be a bank statement or a signed letter of sponsorship

Proof of nationality: It can be a passport or an immigration pass issued by the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority of Singapore (ICA).

Passport-size photographs: At least 3-4 colored photos taken within last three months

Extracurricular activities/volunteer work certificate: If you have done volunteer work or engaged in extracurricular activities, attach the certificate/letter of the same.

Professional work experience certificate (if any)

Portfolio of work: This is required if applying to architecture, art and design program. It should include a brief statement highlighting your interest in the chosen field/area and top-quality reproductions of your recent work.

Research proposal and abstracts of research publication: This is required when applying for PhD studies in Singapore.  The proposal should be concise and coherent and include the title, the problem/question you want to address, research background, research questions, research methods, significance of research and a short bibliography.
