Documents Required for Student Visa in Singapore

Students wishing to study in Singapore need a Student Pass and a visa to enter the country. The procedure for getting a student pass and a visa is almost the same. The only difference is that in case you need a Student Pass along with your visa you’ll have to apply for it from your home country, i.e. India.

Once your application for visa is accepted, you will receive a SOLAR+ number, which you can use for applying for a Student Pass. Here are some of the documents that you’ll need to apply for visa and Student Pass.

1. Proof of finances

As per the Visa rules, every student has to show proof of funds at the time of visa application. The funds should cover one year of your tution and stay in Singapore.

If the funds are in the form of fixed deposit in your bank, you’ll need a letter from the bank stating the availability of funds in your account. The bank letter must not be older than 30 days from the visa application date.

Make sure to take a couple of prints of this form. The original must be duly signed by you and submitted at the time of visa application.

3. Passport

You’ll need to submit your passport for the visa. Along with the original you’ll also need to submit a photocopy for the passport.

4. Medical Report

The medical report should be in the format mentioned on the ICA (Immigration and Checkpoints Authority) Singapore website.

5. Photographs

The application requires you to attach your recent passport size photograph. It should be a coloured photograph taken on a white background. The photo shouldn’t be more than 6 months old.

6. IPA letter

The in-principle approval letter should also be attached to your application.

See to it that you fill all the details mentioned on the application form along with your signature.

9. Bank statements

Along with the proof of funds you will also need to submit the Original bank statements for the last 28 days from all your sponsors.

10. Visa fee

A copy of the receipt showing that you’ve paid the visa fees need to be attached with the application

11. Transcripts

All your academic transcripts from 10th till date along with translations (if applicable) need to be attached.

12. Work experience

In case you have certain work experience, you’ll need to attach the relevant certificates.

It is advisable to apply for the visa at least 2 months before the commencement of their course. In case your application is rejected, this gives you enough time to re apply for the visa.
